From in-home consultations to a full Bellingham showroom
Living By Design was founded in 2022 by Alberta Garcia, who discovered her passion for design while working in the countertop industry. Through years of guiding homeowners in their material selections, she recognized a deeper calling — to offer a more personal and luxurious design experience for everyone, not just high-end clients.
In the early days the business focused on in-home consultations, with Alberta visiting every project in person to curate selections that honored the story of each home. As the vision grew, so did the space.
By 2023, Living By Design opened a full-service showroom in Bellingham, WA — where clients can explore tile, countertops, cabinets, flooring, and more, all in one place, with expert guidance at every step.

Founder, Living By Design
Alberta discovered design while working for a local countertop fabricator during her Management Information Systems studies at Western Washington University — and fell in love with helping clients find the perfect stone for their homes.
She founded Living By Design in 2022 on a simple belief: everyone, no matter their budget, deserves a luxury experience when remodeling their kitchen or bath. Every project gets curated selections, attentive listening, and a process that feels as good as the finished result.
Outside the showroom she's a new mom who loves hiking Whatcom County's trails, finding local coffee shops, and cooking for the people she loves.
Carlos Nunez
Co-Founder, Living By Design
Carlos brings a distinguished construction career focused on stone countertops, with a background as a skilled laser-measuring technician — a meticulous, detail-oriented approach to every project.
At Living By Design he handles precise measurements, streamlined documentation, and the system processes that keep every project running smoothly and accurately.
When he's not working, he's weightlifting, hiking to the top of Washington's mountains, and spending time with family — including the team dog, Rio.

Chief Happiness Officer
Rio is our beloved Golden Doodle and the heart of the team. Known for his gentle nature and love of treats, he greets clients like old friends, makes the rounds to boost morale, and reminds us all to slow down and enjoy the little moments — especially the ones that involve belly rubs.
